Sweet Gum
A flowering deciduous tree in the genus Liquidambar, sweet gum is known for its bright orange leaves and is native to Asia. The tree was once planted in imperial palaces to add to the scenic landscape, and was referred to as a feng shui tree. Sweet gum resin is produced when insects or humans cut through the tree bark. The essential oil is steam-distilled from the resin.
